2026 Tata Tiago Facelift —
More Than Just a Facelift
Dual screens, 360° camera, rear AC vents, and 6 airbags starting at ₹4.69 lakh. Tata didn't just refresh the Tiago — they rebuilt it.
The Old Tiago Was Getting Long in the Tooth
Let's be honest — the old Tiago was a solid budget hatchback, but the design had aged and rivals were catching up fast. Tata knew that. So for 2026, they didn't just slap on new bumpers and call it a day. This is a near-ground-up refresh — new face, new interior, new features — while keeping the same reliable mechanicals underneath.
I've been driving it around Pune for a bit, through FC Road, Viman Nagar signals, and out on the Expressway. Here's what I think.
Sharper, Edgier, and Actually Modern
The 2026 Tiago looks genuinely fresh. Tata has moved away from the soft, rounded styling of the outgoing car and gone sharper and more edgy. The front end is completely new — no longer looks like a budget car trying too hard.
The sides are mostly unchanged except for new 15-inch alloy wheel designs and black cladding on the wheel arches. The rear gets a connected tail-lamp setup, a cleaner bumper, and a subtler roof spoiler. Six colour options available:
The Biggest Surprise — Premium Feeling at Budget Price
Walk in and you're greeted by a dual-tone light grey and black cabin — a massive departure from the all-black cave of the old car. The dashboard is flatter, cleaner, more horizontal. It feels like a car from a segment above.
The piano-black panels look modern but will attract dust and scratches in Pune's environment — keeping them clean takes effort. The AC controls still use physical knobs though, which is a relief.
Key Interior Highlights
Tata Doesn't Disappoint — 6 Airbags as Standard
Tata has always taken safety seriously, and the Tiago facelift continues that legacy. For a car starting at ₹4.69 lakh, this safety package is genuinely class-leading.
Same Reliable Mechanicals — and That's Fine
No changes here. The Tiago continues with the dependable 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine — 86 HP in petrol guise and 75.5 HP in CNG form. Gearbox choices are a 5-speed manual or AMT.
In the real world — FC Road, Viman Nagar signal, Katraj Bypass — the engine feels adequate and punchy enough for city driving. Don't expect excitement on an open road, but for what most Pune buyers use this car for, it's perfectly suited. The CNG AMT gets paddle shifters — a nice touch at this price.

Vs. Celerio and Grand i10 Nios
At the base level, the Tiago at ₹4.69 lakh just edges out the Celerio (₹4.70 lakh) and significantly undercuts the Grand i10 Nios (₹5.55 lakh). Feature-for-feature, nothing in its segment offers this package.

How It Scores
2026 Tata Tiago Facelift — Scores
Should You Buy It?
The Best Budget Hatchback in India Right Now
Tata has addressed almost every major complaint about the old car. The cabin feels premium, the features list is genuinely impressive for the price, and the safety credentials are class-leading.
The only mechanical update you'd want — a stronger engine or a proper torque converter automatic — isn't here, but that's a minor gripe. For young buyers in Pune looking for a first car, this is hard to beat. Clean design, solid build quality, modern features, and a brand that's been nailing safety scores consistently.
If you're in the market for a budget hatchback, the 2026 Tiago is the best it's ever been.
