Tata Punch Real Mileage
in City – My Experience
Garve Motors, Baner, Pune · Petrol AMT · Personal Test Drive
This weekend, I visited a Tata showroom in Baner, Pune, to check the real-world mileage and driving experience of the Tata Punch. I took a short test drive covering both city and highway conditions to understand how the car performs in daily usage.
I visited Garve Motors in Baner early in the morning. The staff was helpful, and I was assigned a sales advisor named Yash, who guided me through the vehicle.
Even though I had seen the Tata Punch multiple times on the road, seeing it closely in the showroom gave a completely different perspective. You can really notice the effort Tata has put into designing the car for Indian road conditions.

The Tata Punch has a bold and bulky front design. The raised bonnet and strong bumper design give it a commanding road presence. The scuff plate further enhances its SUV appeal.
However, I personally felt that the headlight setup could have been slightly larger, and the DRL housing could have been designed better.
From the side, the car comes with R16 dual-tone alloy wheels, which look quite premium.
But one thing I noticed — while the front looks very muscular, the side profile slightly loses that "wow factor." This is mainly because the car falls under the sub-4 metre category. Compared to rivals like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Punch feels a bit less balanced from the side, although Tata has tried to compensate with heavy body cladding to give it an SUV stance.
The rear looks wide and premium. The connected tail light setup spreads across the width of the car, making it look broader and more elegant. The design includes curves and lines that give it a more upmarket feel, along with a rear scuff plate similar to the front.
Once inside, my first impression was — premium and refreshing.

| Power & Torque | 87.8 BHP & 115 Nm |
| Transmission | AMT |
Although I drove a CNG variant, the driving experience was purely on petrol.
The car performs best when driven calmly. It is not meant for aggressive or enthusiastic driving.
During sudden acceleration, the AMT gearbox takes around 8–10 seconds to respond properly, so overtaking requires planning. This car is more suited for relaxed driving rather than quick performance.
Suspension type: Stiff. In slow city traffic, you will feel the stiffness slightly. But on highways — this becomes a major advantage. The car feels very stable and planted at higher speeds.
